There was a recent announcement that Inuyasha was getting a SPIN OFF SERIES *screams of joy*
Being the first-ever anime I’ve ever watched, Inuyasha has a special place in my heart. It is the reason why I love anime today. From watching Inuyasha, I discovered Ghost in the Shell, Ouran Highschool Host Club, and other great anime/manga. It was my gateway drug to a lifetime obsession.

Inuyasha is a shōnen manga written by Rumiko Takahashi, the mastermind behind: Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2, and Rin-ne

Fun Fact: The reason why anime have pop songs as the opening and ending is thanks to Urusei Yatsura. It’s credited to be the first anime to introduce the format.
The manga was premiered and ran in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1996 to 2008.
It follows the story of a 15-year-old schoolgirl named Kagome Higurashi, who falls into a well in her family’s shrine, is transported to the Sengoku period of Japan. Unbeknownst to her, Kagome has a magical Shikon jewel embodied which causes demons to attack her in an attempt to claim it as their own. She ends up breaking the curse upon the half dog-demon, Inuyasha, in order to save herself.
When another demon tries to take the jewel, Kagome accidentally shatters it into hundreds of pieces that disperse across Japan. Inuyasha and Kagome enter an agreement to find the pieces and restore the jewel however, they are not the only ones looking for it. A powerful and evil demon called Naraku has his eye on the jewel and will stop at nothing to gather all the shards.
Inuyasha is one of the original Isekai manga/anime and I believe it really set the preset for beloved cat-eared demon boys. Without Inuyasha, there would be no Kamisama-Kiss or The Demon Prince of Momochi House. Inuyasha is magical, action-packed, romantic, and touches on some relatable issues; such as dysfunctional families, grief, betrayal, forgiveness, and young love.
I highly recommend it for those of you who love romance stories with more than a pinch of action. It has always and always will be a 10/10 for me.
At the moment, I’m still waiting for more information about the spin-off before I give you any detailed reactions. Expect to see more Inuyasha related content in the coming weeks 🙂
