It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these wrap up posts. But if I’m being totally honest, it’s been a while since I’ve even looked at my blog stats….ever since I moved from hosted to self-hosted.
The fact is both good and bad. Good because I’m not as obsessive with my view count as I had been. Bad because well, I should be looking at them to see what’s working or not, what days am I getting more traffic and what days am I not.
I’ve been more focused on my Pinterest and my Instagram account for A Novel Idea.
In January, I took a pinterest course to help push some traffic to my blog. I was a complete newbie on pinterest, barely using it unless if was for DYI or Planner Template ideas. I’ve seen many bloggers rave about how pinterest can help your blog out so I decided to give it a shot.
The course I took was quick and simple, highlighting certain areas on pinterest that I should be paying attention to and how the algorithm works. It’s been 30 days since I’ve completed the course and have applied what I learned. I won’t lie and tell you I did what it told me everyday but I did it frequently enough that I started to see results on traffic.

February Wrap up – Stats:
Views: 286 | Visitors: 143 | Top Referrer: Pinterest
This is a HUGE jump from the views and visitors I was getting back when I was hosted. The average I used to get a month was 20-25 views and visitors. My top referrer used to be the WordPress Reader and now Pinterest is my top referrer. It’s nice to see the fruits of my labor starting to show!
Another big win for me is that my blog is being found much easier in search engines. Last year, I did not have any search engine traffic! Learning some SEO skills and applying them last month has really benefited.

XOXOXO,
Jeimy
Congrats on the Pinterest traffic. I used to get a lot from Pinterest, but it’s starting to die down. Probably because my pins are ugly and I don’t have a billion hours a day to spend making fresh pins. Happy March!
Thank you!
I completely understand! It is a lot of work! I usually put aside an hour on Saturday and on Sunday to make fresh pins for my blog posts and schedule repins from other book bloggers. I don’t have a lot of fresh pins because I just dont have enough content (I only blog 3 times a week at most) so it’s been a steady increase!
Happy March! <3
