Smile for the Shelfie!
Take a picture of your bookshelves and/or stacks and explain how you organize your books!
If my books are on my bookshelf, they have to be in Alpha Alpha order by author last name.
Alpha Alpha order, for those of you who don’t know what that means, is an organization method in where you organize based on primary and secondary alphabet order. Example: AA, AB, AC, AD…etc
I may or may not have a slight compulsion over organization and cleaning.
I blame my hispanic mother for this, who else had to wake up early every saturday to clean? However, when it comes to books? It is much more serious. It will literally bother me for days on end if I place a book on my book shelf not following the alpha alpha by last name rule.
The entire bookshelf will look wrong to me.
The other underlining compulsion that I have is series HAVE TO BE TOGETHER. I can’t have a series broken up onto two shelves, they have to be in one shelve.
Thankfully, I don’t have any series longer than 7 books.
I have ordered a second bookshelf since it seems like my little library is growing every month. I do plan to move all the long series to that shelf and have this one for single books only…but we’ll see how I fair with that.
How do you organize your bookshelf?

omg I love your book corner !! Specially that heart on the wall 😍
So far, I think mostly everyone is picky about SERIES NEEDING TO BE TOGETHER!! I can’t understand thoses who don’t mind, honestly.. ahaha– 7 books is starting to be alot in a serie, I find *aherm, Harry Potter* but although i’m saying that, one of my only serie is 9 books long.. But to be fair it ended at 8, and then the 9th one got out like 10years after so xd
Thank you! <3
I dont think Ive read a series longer than 8 books...once it starts to hit the double digits, I get scared lol
Same 🤣 especially if it’s huuge books too!!
Your bookshelf looks so pretty! I understand the need to organise your bookshelf in Alpha Alpha order, because I’m that way too, but this time, I decided to challenge myself and go for a rainbow bookshelf! It looks pretty but is sort of unnerving. My bookshelf is overflowing as well and hopefully, I can buy a second one soon – although, I really don’t have space for it in my room.
I feel that in my soul!!! I’ve been looking into the 13 in shelves that are 7 shelves long, the thing ones because I barely have space too xD
I commend you for your bravery on the rainbow shelf! I wish I could but I wouldnt be able to sleep at night! haha
Thanks for reading <3
Awh your shelves are so pretty and I hadn’t heard of alpha alpha order until now, I don’t think I’d be able to handle using that system because I don’t have the energy after I finish a book to shelve it properly I just erm give it a “resting” place until I reorganise/tidy my shelves up again haha. Link below for my post if you wanna snoop and see how I organise mine <3
i hate seperating series too which is really hard when i wanna keep my unread books seperate from read books! love you shelfies
I hear that! To help with that, I have colorful small post it note and use them as markers. I put purple ones on the books I already read when I’m reading a series, yellow when I’m currently reading, and Blue when I DNF’d it (so I can write a Book Review).
Thank you for reading <3
